Bagless lightweight upright with comfort grip looped handle. Cleans carpets and bare floors.
Customer Reviews
My vac died after the holidays and I ran to the store to make a spontaneous purchase decision. The result: A Eureka 431F bagless upright vac. At first, I thought I'd made a good purchase. However, after using it for a few weeks I've come to realize that this is not a very good vacuum.
Pros:
1. Very light.
2. Adjustable handle.
3. Easy to operate -- controls are simple.
4. Powerful suction when it's new.
Cons:
1. Difficult to push (due to very small wheels).
2. Filter clogs quickly. Difficult to clean.
3. Front exhaust blows dirt away from vacuum.
My initial experience with this vac was generally positive. It was easy to use and setup, the adjustable handle was very comfortable to use (for both my children and me), and it performed well. However, it required considerably more effort to push/pull across the carpeting. I think this is due to the very small wheels underneath it.
However, after a short time, I realized that the filter clogs with dust and lint very quickly. When this happens, suction performance drops considerably. The instructions recommend emptying the canister and cleaning the filter every week or so, but I found the filter needed cleaning every time the canister was emptied. The filter can be shaken or brushed, but produces a cloud of dust which becomes airborne very quickly (and becomes inhaled very easily).
This vac can be used on bare floors because the brush roller can be shut-off, but the vac exhausts through the front of the vac which blows a lot of dirt and debris away from the vac before you can capture it.
The poor filter design, exhaust issue, and push/pull difficulty make this a poor design. My old dirt-devil featherlite with a bag performed better, was easier to push/pull, and didn't create a cloud of dirt when I emptied the bag...
